Got most of my packing done last weekend. Shot my bow a bunch. Tweaked my arrow flight a bit. Dreamt about deer and elk for the last 5 nights. Elk?? I know, I have no idea why. I’ll be chasing roosters and bald deer. Hunting with 3 of my best friends from high school. I’ll have the opportunity to shoot either mule or whitetail deer. Hoping I get one of each. Pheasants, well, they are just something to pass the time during the lunch hour. Weather looks mild. If we get high winds, we plan to do some corn hunting. However, the harvest could be going full swing, so watching the combines will help see if the deer are being pushed around at all.

I was up at 4AM this morning for no reason, so I expect I won’t be getting much sleep this week. Been too long since I’ve had this much anticipation for a hunt.

HEY, you were invited a while ago.

I’m actually taking my two oldest back now, should make for an interesting 6 hour ride. Grandma is in for a run for her money. I hope they get a little taste of hunting while back. They can’t wait to feed pheasants at Grandpa’s place(he still has a couple thousand on hand).

Jocelyn(4) wants to shoot a deer. We’ve been watching a lot of hunting lately on Sunday mornings. Mom isn’t to excited about her babies hunting just yet.

Snakes just make belly crawling through the prairie grass a bit more of a challenge. I’m betting you’ve never seen a fat white kid move as fast as I can if I think I’ve stumbled on a rattler.
