I bought a marcum 5 owned it for 1 season. had trouble with the unit turning on. sent it in they said it was full of water. did not want to replace it under warranty but they did. I also feel they were very professional and polite in dealing with the situation. I will keep buying marcum in the future. Roger

Heading up to the factory this afternoon, to have them take a look-see at my LX-3 that has not been performing as of late. I think the transducer’s shot, and when I called them, they said stop on by and we’ll get you up and running. Looking forward to seeing the digs

I stopped in to say “Hi” to the guys last week. Quite a nice operation they got going there.
Nice to see a MN company thrive like they are. When you sell all of your units built for 2008…you are doing something right!

I was in there for a total of 10 minutes last week. John gave me a new transducer after inspecting mine. Now she works like a dream.

    Great service up there.

The coyote (Canis latrans, meaning “barking dog”) also prairie wolf ) is a member of the Canidae (dog) family and a close relative of the Gray Wolf. There are 19 recognized subspecies of coyotes (Voigt and Berg, 1999).

The coyote looks very similar to the endangered red wolf in profile. They have similar size, color and head shape.

The coyote can be identified by its thick, bushy tail, which it often holds low to the ground. It can be distinguished from its much larger relative, the Gray Wolf, by its overall slight appearance compared to the massive size and stockiness of the bigger canid, which typically weighs 34 to 57 kilograms (74 to 125 lb).

The northeast coyote and the Cape Cod coyote are thought to be a hybrid with the Red Wolf (Parker 1995). Coyotes can also hybridize and produce fertile offspring with Gray Wolves and domestic dogs. However, practical constraints such as the timing of estrus cycles and the need for both parents to care for the pups limit such crosses in the wild.

Hybrids between coyotes and domestic dogs are known as “coydogs”.

Honestly, I was and still am leaning towards wolf. I have not seen a tonof Yotes, but this animal does appear to be almost as big as my 75 lab. Rufus has gone nose to nose with about 3-4 Yotes and has towered over every one! I don’t believe that would be the case here. I might have to swing Rufus up there and have him stand in the same spot for scale.

Location: MN, 50 minutes North of Blaine 1-2 miles from the Croix. Those of you that know my old hunting stomping grounds know where. A buddies Dads farm.

It’s a wolf. Look at the nose and ears. Definately not a yote.

New IDH rule… all trailcams must be set up with accompanied standard yard sticks placed vertically at 5 yard intervals…

That way we’d have a better reference for the size of these dogs.

Boy thats a wolf if I ever seen one. We noticed lots of wolf sign last year hunting directly acrossed the river from your area last year when hunting grouse in WI. I think that area has quite a few now. The WI hunters near Grantburg would probably vouch for that.

Looks like a well fed yote to me….not one of those scraggly looking homely starving to death night time yappers I remeber from back home in western Nebraska.

How does one become a wolf expert living in Iowa??

This animal does not appear to have the tiny nose/jaw/muzzle of a coyote.

    Bobcat for sure.

I voted coyote but am not sure. I say we shoot it for closer examination. If it is a wolf we can promptly release it per federal guidelines.
