I have been having a small issue with a stealth cam trail camera. Every so often it trips and takes a picture that is of nothing….the photo it takes is completely white. it has happened at several different times of day….but seems to be only during daylight hours…..Any ideas out there?

has it been early morning I have had issues when the temp is fluctuating and moisture is on the lens when it’s been really foggy in the bottoms I heard people were putting those little packs of silica in the camera

I have been getting a few pictures like that also and my camera is a wildview. I was just thinking maybe the batteries were getting bad

I was having the same problem on one of my cameras. I just moved the camera to a different tree so it’s facing a little more to the north, but still covering the same trail. Knock on wood, I haven’t had another in the past 10 days….well one…but it was snowing

I could see moisture in the lense causing this also. I don’t think it’s brand specific, I believe most do this time to time. Please someone correct me if I’m wrong.

It has kind of been all over the place as far as time of day goes….I haven’t noticed anything as far as moisture when I have checked the cam….I have tried turning it just a bit on the tree but didn’t seem to help.

I have noticed though that the temp indicator must be messed up…sometimes it is believable but sometimes not!!

Sometimes whiteout pictures happen because you have placed your camera in heavy cover. During daylight hours your camera should be in daylight mode (color) but when it goes to take a picture it’s so dark under the heavy cover that it ends up taking the picture in night mode thus creating a whiteout picture.

Ah…Thanks a lot Brad. That would make sense, The camera had only been in two different spots until yesterday and they were both wooded, not neccesarily heavy cover, but if it was on cloudy dreary days that would explain it. In the one location there were a couple of pictures in B&W that I thought “hey, I woulda thunk those would have been in color!”

Thanks Brad, This mystery is history!!!

What really sucks is having no idea what tripped the cam….could been a brusier!!!!

Glad to help! It took me a long time before I figured that one out.
