A buddy of mine got this pick on his cam up on the Price County/ Rusk County border in Wisconsin. There has been a ton of people talking about seeing a mountain lion (my dad included)in the area. For me the jury is still out. This pic sure does make me wonder though. It looks to me like a real big cat. It also looks like a long tail tucked up underneath. What do you think?

That is my first impression. But what’s the thing tucked up in front of it’s back leg? When I blow up the pic it looks like a long tail. It also looks like it has a small skunk in it’s mouth. Could be a domestic kitten or small cat too.

i would say a bobcat but i do see what looks to be a tail but from what i know of the two cats a moutain lion always has its tail down and behind it and a bobcats tail is so short it sticks up/out like in this pic but to me thats what i think it looks like not sure whats under it though

bobcat, what you are seeing as a tail is the rear leg lifted up while walking, notice the front leg on the opposite side is also up.

Looks like some spots on the inside of the front legs too–bobcat–and cool pics by the way!

It looks a lot like a mountain lion but no tail. Too bad there is not something close to it to reference it size.

I have a friend who lives in SE that has a mountain lion lurking around on his property. Recently it has been getting closer to the house. It would make me nervous!!

Any chance it could be a cross between a cougar and a bobcat, I don’t even know if its possible, their both cats? The way the hair lays makes it look like a cougar but the colored ticking around the belly makes it look similar to a bobcat. It may be a bobcat walking through a field that had heavy dew that morning making its hair lay close to the body. Any chance of a cross between both cats, have they ever crossed, cougars are new to the woods and a new this spring, a young cross? It resembles both cats. After looking back at the picture again its body’s a dead ringer for a cougar, long and sleek unlike a bobcat.
