Beetles?

I took a bear earlier this week and I’d like to have the skull cleaned up. I’ve done this before myself – boiled it, scraped it, boiled it, used peroxide, boiled it, scraped it and scraped it some more. The finished product was nice, but it took several hours. I’m considering doing a “point and pay” this time around.

Any recommendations? I know some places use the beetles to clean them out…but none of the taxidermists in the Grand Rapids area have them. I travel to and from the Cities on a weekly basis, so I could use a place down there.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I know around here some folks will find a good ant hill, and use the ants to get the job done they seem to clean the skulls up fairly fast. I will have to ask and find out all the details on how they protect the skulls from varmints and predators.

This guy, hands down, does some of the best european bear skulls I have ever seen. Worth the shipping cost if you are looking for some quality work.

We have had it done by a doctor or dentist from St.Cloud I can not remember his name though.
