Thought I would post this video again from some of last years encounters I captured. This year the bar will be and already has been raised as we will be capturing footage from at least 4 different states while hunting various quarry. We plan on revealing the future plans of iDoHunting.com at the GTG / Archery shoot on August 30th. Come see what is in store for the future of the site at the GTG. Bring your friends and family. All people are encouraged to attend, not just archery or deer hunters. For more information on the GTG CLICK HERE!

    Thanks Guys!

JDX some of that stuff was done free hand, or while filming for my wife, while trying to call, be shot creator, range distance, coach, and stay in the tree. I had a camera arm but did not fit into a few tress last year. I took care of that and got a 15′ ratchet strap this year.

Her best encounter last year happened after camera light as she missed a dandy 5×5 in ND on Halloween. After she missed I definitely fell victim to Buck Fever as I shook uncontrollably for a good 5 minutes after.

I promise you this year will be better.

    Rob,

Good question, I got asked the same question two years ago when I passed him. I encountered that Deer the last two Falls. 2 Years ago he handcuffed me as that was the first time I seen him as far as I know. He was a similar looking buck but an eight pointer. Great G2’s like he had last year, a little wider then this past year, but really short G3’s like his one side this past year. 2 Falls ago I had about a 5-6 second window from seeing him to shoot him. I drew back instantly as the buck was walking by but the antler #’s were not adding up in my head. I did not have enough inches on my quick estimate to shoot. Only later after watching the video I filmed after he walked away did I realize what he was a old bruiser and I messed up. Last year, I encountered him up close and personal. Two times within 10 minutes I had him come into a grunt call on the True Talker. He kikced a 115-120″ 4×4 into the next county. However, last year I had a certain buck on my brain on that piece and it was the only buck I would have shot unless something bigger came by and that was unlikely. I saw that buck I was after only 2 times last year and had a tough year all around. That is the price you pay when you hunt a single buck, life can suck and you can be kicking yourself for years.

Here is that encounter from 2 years ago as he is walking away.

A few years back I did a little camera work running the Cannon GL1s for Ginger Morehead and few others while at Bluff Bucks Outfitters. I never had a issue but often thought about the shakes setting in while a person would be filming – that would be tough, but of all the footage I did, I never had a issue I think you get so into the zone with the animal and your own creativity of panning out and zooming in making that perfect picture story that your mind doesn’t get a chance to mess with yourself.

It’s always a blast to be able and see the moment over and over when you have it on film, it’s like being there and going thru all the motions when you’re either the hunter or the camera man, better then replaying that moment in your mind.

    Have fun with it!

That last footage was shot with my little digital still picture camera. When you zoom all the way in hard to hold it still.
