HORICON, Wis. (AP) — A father and son are accused of illegally killing a 26-point whitetail buck in Dodge County.
State Department of Natural Resources warden supervisor Dave Holmes says investigators believe the trophy buck was shot with a gun late last year near Horicon during the archery season.
Charged with misdemeanors in the incident are 45-year-old Wayne Nisiewicz and his 24-year-old son Anthony Nisiewicz, both of rural Horicon. Holmes says the son told wardens that he legally shot the big buck with a bow and arrow but investigators believe the arrow wound was inflicted after the buck had died.Holmes says the buck would be the third largest deer with “non-typical” antlers ever taken in Wisconsin if legally shot with a bow and arrow.
Holmes says the DNR investigation began with a tip about suspicious gunshots
