I know right where they’re at. I’ll have to go get them the next time I go out looking.

I googled them and the pictures I found looked like yours. They said no other mushroom looks like them but the ones in my pic don’t have the rough edges. Does that mean they’re immature??? I won’t touch them until I’m sure.

The ones in Kevins picture are good too, I’ve ate alot of them. Chicken mushrooms are what I’ve heard them called through the years but there technically might be another name but they are good to eat. My dad was a big mushroom hunter and he taught me what kind are good around here. I hunt and eat 12 diffrent kinds and I know the ones in Kevins picture are good to eat. My dad told me take a small bite and if its bitter don’t eat it, none of the edible mushrooms have a bitter aftertaste.

The ones in your picture are adults, sometimes they get a white film on the top of them but that dosen’t hurt. Just wash them off. Take a small bite and if its bitter throw them away, if they have a yellowish stem coming from them I know thier what we call chicken mushrooms. Theres usually alot of them in the fall and I pick what I see to make gravys.

    Kevin:

Great, great pics. I think spring and everything in the woods is what makes turkey hunting so much fun for me. Nice pics of the trillium and jack-in-the-pulpit too.

Thanks Joel. I felt a bit awkward posting pics of flowers on here but I guess I’m secure enough in my manhood! Sort of like “Real men wear pink”!

I’ve got hundreds of pictures of macro (up close shots) of flowers etc. Don’t feel so bad we all have a little Piccaso and Rembrant in us. Nice pictures by the way, its nice to see them, beauty is beauty!
