Darnit… i’m sorry to hear that Mike.
I’m sure you are making the right decision and she will love you for that forever.
We have a 14 year old hunting dog that isn’t long for the world either.
Best wishes.
That really sucks. Very sorry to hear it Mike. Good luck to you and your family this afternoon.
Joel
Sorry to hear it buddy.
My thoughts and prayers extend out to you, your family and Tabbie. As hard as it seems she will be in a better place, waitng for ya.
Man, do I dread this day when I have to do this.
So sorry to hear that Mike. Just looking at the picture of Tabbie you can sure tell that she gave lots of wonderful memories and love. I respect your decision to release her from suffering. God bless you and your family.
I don’t know what to say other than I’m sorry to hear about you losing part of your family.
Mike:
Sorry to hear about Tabbie. Two gray muzzled black Labs have come and gone in my house and Mae is currently 9 heading for 10. As tough as it is, maybe you can look at it this way, ITS PUPPY TIME AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Godspeed to your family in its loss.
Mark
Dang im tearin up readin this…good luck to you and your family and and like said already, remember the good times..Jay
Sorry to hear this Mike, not an easy thing to go through that’s for sure. My German Shorthair Abby turned 12 last month and I am not looking forward to the day when I will be faced with this she is the best dog I have ever had. Reading your post reminds me to enjoy the time I have left with her and not take her for granted, thanks for posting this.
Thanks everyone….I just can’t believe how these animals can be such a huge part of your life. Unfortunately things didn’t go as smooth as we were told either. Best case was that it would take like 4 minutes for the process to work. With my wife and my mother there with me, it took them 3 injections for it to finally work….she hung on for 17 minutes until she passed. Of course she was snorning the entire time (first time she’s had rest in a few days), it just made it harder for my wife and mom.
As far as Puppy Time…no one wants to go down that road…not until the healing process is over! Thanks again everyone for your support and kind words!
My heart goes out to you and your family. This truly is the price we pay to have these animals in our lives. Purchase price, vet bills, food and whatever doesn’t add up to anything to the emotional cost of saying goodbye.
Dart, Sorry about your family’s loss. That’s exactly one big reason I’ve held off on getting my own pup. Hope Tabbie and “Grampa” are in once again enjoying one another. My prayers go out to you.
Thanks for listening guys…that really helps out. What also has helped is visiting my mom during lunch every day to comfort each other. She is the one that has to deal with the “empty house” now. It helps to talk with her since she loved the dog as much as I did! Laughing and crying also help! I wouldn’t wish this on anyone that is for sure…but it is getting easier by the day knowing she is in a better place! Thanks again!

It may not have been smooth on you and your family but rest assured she felt nothing. The snoring proved that ! Hopefully your grieving time will be brief and you will soon enough be picking up puppy poop in the kitchen! RR
Yea, what he said. Really saddened to read of this! You & your fanily in my thoughts!
