I thought it would be interesting to hear where and what everyone is hunting down this year. So let’s here your plans!

This year I will be heading to WI in the middle of May with a bow to chase down some toms in WI. Shortly after, I will be doing the same in MN. This fall plans have been made to bow hunt for whitetails in WI and MN. I will also mix in a few pheasant hunting trips as well in southern MN. Gun season comes next and I will hit both states again (MN and WI). Then the same with muzzleloader if there’s an open tag. More late season bow hunting and then last but not least, I’m hoping to go down to IA as well with a muzzleloader in hand.

Wheeeew…. now if I only could get rid of this work thing…

I have a pretty good year mapped out, but some of it depends on draws. I plan on trying turkeys, with a bow this year. I didn’t get in on the draw, so over the counter bow tags will have to do. In June, I am heading to Northern Manitoba for a bow Bear hunt/Walleye & Northern fishing. This will be my first time bear hunting and to say I am pumped, is an undertstatement I also have a chance to go out west in Montana Elk hunting, but this also hinges on getting drawn…. chances are we will not this year, but with times tough, maybe we have a shot. If not this year, then next year for sure. I also just picked up 120 acres up by Mille Lacs, which we will be hitting pretty hard putting in food plots and stands, for some bowhunting, then rifle and muzzleloader. We also have a couple of duck ponds on the property, so who knows, maybe I will buy some steel shot and try that again. I can also see, getting some grouse hunting in on the new property Another thing I can plan on, is bowhunting Ripley again this year. We didn’t get drawn last year, so preference should be a shoe in this year. I can see getting a few more trail cams out to try and figure out the new property this summer also. I feel like I have a million things to do… but you know what ? I love it !!!!

Sounds like a couple of fun years! I’ll be heading to the UP of MI to hunt turkey in a couple weeks, then up to northern WI he week after for the same. Fall will bring pheasant and deer (archery and shotgun) in western MN, whitetail in the UP and elk in CO.

My spring is pretty much booked! I have the second turkey season in WI and hopefully will be able to tag out early because I’m taking a friend of mine who has never turkey hunted before during that same season. Then the following weekend is my wifes season so I’ll be going along on that hunt as well. Then there’s another friend of mine that I’ll be calling for in the later season. From there it’s off to hunt Minnesota’s archery turkey season for three days! That is always a great hunt for sure. Then we have a break in the action (except for coaching my sons Little League Baseball team) until September where I’ll be off to Colorado with my brother as we try to harvest our first elk with archery equipment. I can hardly wait…Lip is counting down the days for Mn archery season to begin…well I’m doing the same for this trip! Then of course after that we have the WI archery deer and gun deer seasons…along with some grouse hunting mixed in! Will definately be a year to remember…hopefully with some great experiences along the way!

Countin down the days til the arrows fly here!

My season will start off with the first 6 weeks bowhunting in Western Wi…I will then change my efforts to slug season in southern MN, then back to the the twin cities for a archery metro hunt (provided I get drawn.) Then it’s back to Western WI for rest of the bow season.

I find it crazy guys have guys are able to get the entire next season planned out the day after the last season ended.

I’ll be chasing Toms this spring for 3-4 wks w/ my camera in Central MN then i will have a chance 2nd to last season. Then today a curve ball was just thrown my way… my aunt and uncle invited me to go bear hunting in Alaska over Memorial Day wknd. Unfortunate for me it’s probably not in the plans because I will be chasing whitetails in WI w/ Brad on weekends and chasing the local bucks during the week. I do know that there is talks of a Caribou hunt this fall in Alaska too. Where can a guy make more money and work less? So many things to hunt and not enough time or $$$ to make it happen.

I have a feeling there is going to be more camera time this year then hunting. either way i’ll be on the water or in the woods.

Pretty typical year for me. Up to Roseau for early goose season. Then back home and chase walleye up and down the river and salmon around Lake Michigan until Duck Opener. Then out to NoDak for a couple weeks of duck hunting split in two at each end of October. Then out to Montana for deer/rifle opener for a week. Then up to the Northern MN deer camp for rifle opener. Then it’s fishing time again.

Late April my brother and I will head out to SD to hunt turkeys. Then back to MN to hunt the bow season(last two weeks) Then Wis. to hunt their last season it gets pretty jammed packed but its pretty darn fun. Lots of early mornings.

Deer hunting plans- Well hunt my property with bow. I just picked up 100 acres to hunt in Harris. Have to check that out. Try to get picked for wild river state park. During rifle season. I also picked up, I think its about 300 acres in Medford Wis. to hunt so I am gonna go and check that out and see what happens. I am excited to be able to hunt two states for deer this year see how it turns out.

My plans for 2009, Not much happening this year.

Right now the plan is to Turkey hunt SD, MN and WI from April to May. This Fall I will be bow hunting for Whitetail and Muleys in 4 states including MN, ND, WI, & SD. I will be gun hunting for Muleys and Whitetails in 3 states MN, ND, & SD. I may be venturing into Iowa for Muzzle loader with a few IDO guys. I will be pheasant hunting in at least MN and SD and even possibly ND. Thinking of even possible Bear Hunting Canada and MN in the early Fall. I hope to blast a few geese off some fields also. Not to mention, I would like to pull the trigger on a yote or 2. We will have to wait and see. I know I will not get to all of it, but you can plan on most of it happening.

It is not what you think. I tried posting a new picture and Brad said I didn’t have enough fish bucks. I asked him how to get more he said I needed to post 1000 more times

So I “worked the system” and contacted BK on the fishing site. He sympathized with me knowing what I have to live with and now I’m his FG (favorite girlfriend).

I plan on putting in a lot more time on a piece of property down by Mankato and a new opportunity to hunt some unbelievable stuff near Owatonna. I was 50 yards from the biggest buck of my life last year, can’t wait to get back. My buddy shot a 140 class out the same tree I was hunting last October.
My primary hunting occurs on the family hunting grounds in McGregor, plan to do some stand relocating and possibly some bear hunting.

Turned back a WI bear tag, other than that, just a typical fall in WI. Sit a few hundred hours in the tree, and kill a dozen or so deer. Whack some geese. Trap some fur.

    Wyoming for muely, and antelope.

Didn’t draw WY Elk, and only a point in AZ. Still waiting on draws in NV, UT, NM, CO, MT, and Idaho. Will be bowhunting elk somewhere, who knows where and how often at this point.

I have a busy year planned. MEA weekend I head to SD indian reservation to hunt prairie chickens and grouse for 4 days. Mid-Sept I head to Montana for 10 days to Bowhunt elk, then off to Iowa for pheasant opener. Bowhunting both SE MN and NW IA throughout the season (if I get drawn) and head to Missouri in late November for a short week of whitetails. Late season roosters in Iowa…Dont want to think of anything past that because it will start to get depressing from then on.

Almost forgot, applying for bow moose as well, never know mayeb I will draw my first year.

Pretty simple fall plans for me…….

Grouse hunt locally as much as possible to get the new dog into as many birds as I can…….throw in a couple of cast and blast trips to Kabetogama for mornings of eyes, eve’s of grouse. Then a quick 3 weekends of rifle hunting where I hope to get a chance at a deer – having a couple young nephews to take really cuts into my odds….in a good way…… Toss in a couple mink traps into the late fall mix as open water allows and there you have it…….a nice, full, yet simple fall…..

It might be a very simple fall, but my favorite pursuits will all be covered.

    Tim
