I’m in the market to buy myself a muzzleloader. The extra 10 days here in wisconsin would be nice to put more meat in the frezzer. But my question is are the Thompson/Center firearms worth the price?

If I had to do it over, I would have bought a TC. My old man got one and I got a CVA and I really like his gun better. But it depends on how serious you are. My CVA will kill deer, just not as fancy. I think someone posted about this before and compared them like a Benelli vs. Winchester.

Go with the Thompson Center you will not be disappointed. I own a Omega and I think it is the best muzzleloader available for the money and I’ve owned a few. I believe that right now they are offering a $50.00 rebate as well.

I almost went with CVA…but many here pointed out some of the little things that set the TC ahead of the pack. To me they were pretty big things. Form, fit and function are VERY nice with the TC. I recently bought the Omega Z5 and love it. Unfortunately I have not owned another, so I have no input as to how they compare. But in handling many of the different makers out there, the TC is the most solid robust gun out there. Very user friendly.

I shoot a knight that I got for free and have no complaints. I am very happy with it.

I was looking at a new T/C Encore just a couple days ago at a fleet farm……749 dollars. I can buy a new stainless Tikka 30-06 for less than that. The T/C’s are nice, but I would stick with looking at the Omega’s……

I firmily believe that you can make about an muzzleloader on the market shoot good if you spend enough time with it.
