All right, I am going on a guided hunt this fall, so what is the right thing to do? Do I give the guide a tip or not? And if so, how much??? Any thoughts or past experiences would be great. Thanks.

Tip your guide, and tip the cooks. Don’t need to tip the oufitter. How much…. Depends on how good your trip was and how good they took care of you, etc.

Where are you going?? It all depends on what the guide does for you. If he cuts you a break on cost, gives you spray, doe/buck urine, extra doe tag, etc then i would tip fairly decent! As far as cooks, as long as you don’t find spit in your food then i would tip

OK, let me give out some more information for you, guided hunt for both one bull elk and one buck for each of us. I am taking on the brunt of the money which ends up being $4500.00 a piece for the tags and the outfitters price. We stay at base camp the whole week, so the cook stays there, we have one guide between us for the week, I don’t know if we have the same guide or if they shuffle the guides around. With that being said, the outfitter/guide is getting $6000.00 from our hunting party that week guaranteed, This covers our room and board, meals and the guide. Now tipping is a minumum of 10% but 15% is kind of the norm, so should I plan on bringing another 600 – 900 with me. This trip is going to get me divorced

I would have to agree…also on how well they guide and what your opportunities are in seeing/harvesting an animal!
