I can tell you my 2 least favorite! For deer shoulder mounts and fish I trust nobody but Josh Linn from Artistic Taxidermy, Richmond MN. Although he will be relocating to Detroit Lakes in the next few weeks.

In regard to deer, Peterson Taxidermy (Kirk Peterson) in Arkansaw, WI has done several of my mounts and I couldn’t be happier. He’s in the process of doing a full body mount of “the wide one”. About 4 years ago, Kirk won 1st place at the WI State Taxidermy Competition with his own buck that he harvested. He’s truly an artist and goes as far as owning his own deer herd so he can study them. Kirk does about 175 mounts a year himself and charges $435 for a shoulder mount. He specializes in deer but also does turkeys and other big game animals (elk, moose, pronghorns, bear). Customers all over the midwest bring him their trophies.

Yes Kirk does a great job, and they are truely super nice people. I use Dodge, but when Jack retires, it will be to Kirk’s. WTA

A little off topic here but Brad when you get that full body mount back of the “wide one” I gotta see it. Be sure to post them pics as soon as you get it back. By the way, where are you going to put that giant??

Timeframe is this fall around the end of Oct. I was hoping to have it sleep with us in our bed but that didn’t go over to good. Luckily, we just built a house with a trophy room so I guess it will have to go in there.

For Deer mounts Mark Rigotti owner of VIOLA TAXIDERMY in Viola MN about 10 miles east of Rochester. Mark did my 2004 buck pictured here and he is currently working on my 20007 buck. Mark does a top quality job with great attention to detail, he has also done most if not all Dennis Williams deer mounts.

For Fish work I have to say ME… Fish are very hard to do properly. Click on my link in my Sig file for some very recent Pics.

There really are some very good Deer taxidermists around, make sure you look at their work, and attention to detail,
    and integrity.
    good luck.

I use Mid State Taxidermy in Spicer, MN. He has done my 30″ Walleye (1995, looks like I just pulled it in the boat today) 2 Whitetails, excellant and very lifelike, and a Grouse. I am more than happy with all the work he has done for me, and I have recommended him to friends, and they all switch too, after having 1 done The most important thing to do, I think, is look at what is in their shop now. Pictures cannot show the real details, that the human eye can pick up on. Obviously, a taxidermist will photograph only their best work to show, so seeing in person, what they have in the works and whats ready for pick-up, will give you a good idea what you get for your $$$.
