Heres some pictures of my daughters boyfriends 9 pointer he took about 3 weeks ago, His first three measurements were 6-0, 6-0,,6-0, 6-0,,5 4/8, 5 4/8,,,his first three mass measurements totaled 35″. He would have been really nice a couple years ago, pretty nice last year too. Howd you like to get a shot at the one that broke his left beam, those are the ones I dream about. Hes got it drying and is making a wood plaque for it. Right where its broke Quienten could barley get his thumb/middle finger around the beam. Not to bad for a beginner as I got him started last year in bowhunting. His first buck last year was a decent 8, then this year he got this one. When you look at it close you can see the mainbeam broke right where the tine was coming off the mainbeam What do you think he’d measure if he had the tine and the rest of the mainbeam, my guess would be 145″ to 155″. What do you guys think?

This buck has really good mass! I’m guessing he would have been in the low 150’s before he broke off.

That has to be the darkest rack to ever come out of Iowa…if that’s where it’s from. Too bad about the main beam, cause that thing is incredible!

We measured him and if the side thats gone was the same as the other we came up with 155″. It took me about 15 minutes to soak in his mass and realize just how big he was when Quienten brought his rack in the house here. Hes from around here, one of the places where I hunt just up the river aways. Hes the nicest 9 pointer that i’ve seen come from around here when it comes too mass that I can remember and his head was huge too, bigger then normal, longer and wider on the ear span. I think his inside was 19″ which isn’t real wide but his mass makes up for it. I aged him at 7 1/2 years old, I don’t think he was 8 1/2. The third and fourth pictures on the top, from the left to right are my favorite ones. I’ve seen a couple older bucks in a couple timbers that had bigger mass but smaller racks because of thier age, they both were also bigger bodied bucks with one going around 300 lbs.

Ive been getting reports from a few shotgunners and a guy I know, Jerry my smallmouth buddy that I fish the maquoketa river with, that lives on the edge of town and what they seen during shotgun and what Jerrys been seeing where he lives this last year befor season. I’d tell you guys but I don’t know if anyone would believe me, Luke probably would, he knows.

I’ll tell you what they said and what the bucks looked like and how many if you want to know. It “PAYS” to let em grow, it does around here.
