Well the other day i bought a Benelli Nova, and to be honest, i wasn’t happy with it at all. The forearm locked up on my almost every time i shot, and the trigger was EXTREMELY hard to pull about one out of every four shots, i just think it was a bad gun, not the whole Nova line, just this gun. I’ve had and shot several pumps before with never having this problem, even though the salesman was telling me it was me, not the gun. While he’s telling me this, it’s jamming on him….

Anyway, the other gun i was considering when i bought the Nova, was the Stoeger Model 2000, so i ended up exchanging the Nova for the Stoeger, and so far i’m really pleased. I’ve only shot the Stoeger a couple times but it’s a ton lighter and i love the semi-auto feature.

Knowing that most of the critical parts are the same as the Benelli M1 and SBE is really comforting. I got the synthetic stock because the fit and finish on the wood wasn’t the best (it’s only $400 so i expected that to be honest).

I’m going through the break in period now, so we will see how she goes after that!

Sorry to hear about your Nova. I bought 1 two years ago for Turkey and Duck hunting. I love that gun! Hopefully you got a bad one. Even after the dog knocking it in the drink twice last year and after being abused in the blind and boat that gun is holding up well. I am not that easy on stuff

sounds like you did what you had to do to make it right for yourself……

I’ve had an M2000 for 3 years now and love it. I bought it just for turkey hunting, but it fit me so well, I started using it as my pheasant gun too. I have not had a single function problem the entire time I have owned it.

Sorry you had bad luck with the Benelli Nova. I bought one a year ago because it was reasonably priced so I did not care if it was abused in the duck blind, woods, and fields like all good hunting shotguns are. Never had a problem with mine, if I ever wear it out I would buy another one!

I really did like the Nova, but I was so close to buying the Stoeger the first time, i just decided to go with it, after all the good things i heard about it. I’m still even thinking about picking up a Nova for a slug gun… I just think i got a fluke gun.
