Just looking for opinions on where you guys would look to do a DIY big game hunt. Me and my father are looking at doing a DIY next year somewhere and for something. As you can see we really have no “rules” we just want to get out of MN and do some hunting.
What we are looking for is suggestions on where to go and what to hunt. What we are looking for is a good area with public land to hunt and licenses reasonably priced. Any and all suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!

The land between the lakes down in Tennesee….more deer, hogs and wild turkey than you can imagine! All on the same license, beautiful scenery, great affordable accomadations and the locals are actually friendly to out-of-state hunters. Check it out!

We do our own Colorado elk hunts for around $1200 each for roughly 12 day trips. The state of Colorado is 60% public ground. Last trip 4 guys 4 elk in 2 1/2 days hunting. If you would like more info feel free to ask.

My dad and I are doing a guided elk/deer hunt out of Montana next year. First time for both of us. We did the guide for one reason. I wasn’t sure if I was going to end up buying $3000.00 worth of licences and gear only to need $2000.00 or spend $2000.00 and actually need $3000.00. Once we go next year, we will know what we need and have a better idea of how to go about everything. Plus, dad will be 60 next week, wanted to give him every opportunity to come home with some meat on his first trip for elk. There is public land everywhere out west. The pressure gets lighter and lighter the further away from roads you go back. Good luck putting everything together.
