Elk running in downtown St. Cloud!!!

    Got to work today and a co-worker who works patrol saw something kind of wierd..about 1:00 am he saw a 3×2 elk walking down east st germain and riverside…this is right along the mississippi in St. Cloud.. He turned on the squad camera and video’d it…It looked healthy and in good shape..The nearest Elk farm that we are aware of is about 40 miles away…It didnt have a care in the world..He “escorted” it to a wooded area and hasnt been seen since..wounder if it was a wild one or locally raised one???My guess is raised…whats your thought?..Jay

    Cool !!! Isn’t there an Elk Farm by Richmond somewhere ? Like between Richmond and Avon ? That had to be cool.

    There’s an elk farm on Cty. Road 50 between Cold Spring and Avon. There’s another one a short distance from there on Cty Road 51 between Cty Road 50 and Cty Road 2. My dad lives on Big Fish Lake…

    The neighbor to the South of me has elk as does the neighbor to the North. When those elk get out, they stay very close to home. I would be suprised if this is an elk from our area, it would require them crossing I-94 which is very unlikely unless it has been lose for months and followed the Sauk River to the Mississippi.

    My guess is it got out from an Elk farm near the Mississippi river and has been using the river hills as his home and travel area. I believe the elk by my house are all tagged though.

    I just saw a preview of this on Channel 4 News WCCO they will show the video, I am sure it will be on at 6pm and 10:00pm.

    They showed it agian at 6 tune in at 10 to see it.
