Not sure where to put this post, but I am going to be in need of some carp to use for coon bait this year. Has anybody in the LaCrosse area been finding any carp in good numbers? Or, if anybody in the area happens to catch some and willing to keep them, I will gladly come pick them up That goes for sucker as well. I would really like some shad, but I don’t think we are able to net them in WI. Basically I need the fish that are oily. Trout is the best, but I can’t bring myself to use trout for bait.

For what its worth, I used to give my dead bullheads to a guy. He said they were the best raccoon bait.

Just trapping them for the hide. I do have a couple recipes for coon, but I haven’t tried it yet. There is one furbearer I have eaten that is really good. But, if I say the name of it, it doesn’t come out right Let’s just say that it is a furbearing animal that eats bark and builds dams
