Ok now I have another question….is there any reason I should consider the finish into the gun? I understand some camo pattern would be better for Turkey, but is it a large disadvantage I guess if I were to get a synthetic, or a wood finish?

its not the finish per say but the gloss that will spook game if you find a glossy gun at the right price a couple bucks of camo tape will fix it right up.

If you are considering a new 870, wait a couple months and they should go on sale. A lot of gun manufacturers offer rebates in late July/August thru the end of the year. The last three years they have offered a $50 mail-in-rebate. I bought an 870 Express 3.5″ gun for the crappy weather days and it works great after 2 years of abuse. I don’t like the looks or the rattle in the Novas. The forearms are never tight.

Glad to see I am not the only one that thought the Novas were loose feeling and rattled. I have shot 2 that my cousins buddy’s had, and I could not believe Benelli put their name on them….
