we created a group of lonely roosters with the presents of the ladys arrival- for 2 weeks after they all had sore voices from calling but there all pretty darn quiet now– Im not sure how long it takes to start a family with them but there sure hiding now- we get a chance to see them now and then but there are less hens showing up at the feeding sites and only 1 rooster? puzzles me ?

the last couple days only 1 rooster is coming to the feed – he must have gotten married because he has only 1 lady he had been bringing for lunch each day, im guessing shes on the nest now and im thinking it takes 2 weeks to hatch so he arrives between 7-7;30 eah morning for 1/2 hour leaves for the tall grass along the ditch and returns at 7-7;30 in the evening flopping his wings but never calling, we havent seen any of the rest of them for awhile but there nearby at other feeding sites we cant see– Humm- im trying to think of a name for the rooster that got married , ” Hen Pecked” “Mr Lonely”, “Nuts”

Saturday morning we were having coffee while the wind whipped up to 30mph- a lonely Turkey came running accross the yard,; (we have seen as many as 9 of them in the woods earlier) we have heard turkeys get mixed up when theres a lot of wind and the tale holds true, he had no idea where hes was heading–he was lost.

Monday- a pair of Sandhill Cranes came up to near the cabin, they usually dont get that close;; good grief another married guy and I have to think of another name for him as I snapped another one open standing in the garage listening to he call to her (only 2 ft away) kind of got to me so I tried to imatate his call “and it was bad” but each time I did he would jump up and dow, flop his wings and call back- I thought it was amusing as he jumped 2 ft in the air each time I called –I told Judy about it and she said “maybe hes looking for another mate” So I quit calling – ISH, EEK
