We lost our black lab unexpectantly this fall. My Brother and Mother decided for Christmas to do something really special and buy us a new puppy. We went and looked at some yellow labs last night. We spent about an hour with them and found a really nice female in the bunch. It just kinda of clicked. Just kinda knew right away this dog was going to work. It is amazing out of a litter of 10 how 1 jumps out at you! The pups are only 5 weeks they have been weined almost a week. The blood lines are good, both parents and a brother from last years litter were there all looked good. Any tips or suggestions for me? I have never had a puppy that young before. I will have to get the first shots. They have been dewormed and dew claws removed. Any recommendations on a vet in SE MN?

Moose loves visiting the clinic in Kasson. Not really sure why because everytime he visits he gets something snipped, poked, or prodded. Seems to keep him heathly there anyway.

Show her a lot of love to build a relationship and make sure you start the poddy training early by making them go “poddy” regularily outside.

    Congrats.

Agreed…lot of bonding time outside (just you or mama, no kids=distraction) making sure to praise the positive, and correct the negative….just you and her spend a bunch of time outside alone, set the rules, bond, etc…have a pocketfull of treats…trust me

oh, forgot to mention Kasson clinic is ok…my current dog loves the place, but that is the place that put my chessie down 5 years ago….kept referring to him as her when we were speaking….dude, you are about to euthanize my dog, please at least care enough to know he is a male, and don’t call him her….left a lasting negative impression on me…and that was my chessie’s vet…
