In Minnesota is it illegal to carry your personal protection weapon during Muzzleloader season?
On page 25 it states one may carry there conceal and carry weapon during hunting, excluding archery and shining?
But nowhere does it say you cannot carry during Muzzleloader season. I am calling the DNR Monday on this but was just antsy to see if I could find out sooner then that time. Thanks.

My brother and I are kinda disputing over it. He says No and I say yes due to the black and white in the hand book not stating you cannot during the muzzleloader season.
Plus where I am heading it is known that some of the hunters have encountered packs of dogs (wild) that have either chased or attempted to attack the hunters. Me myself with only one shot in a muzzleloader would feel alot more comfortable carrying my side arm just for the protection from these types of threats. I would only carry my 9mm so not to lead any officer into thinking I would intend to use it to hunt anything else with it. Now shotgun season I carry my 454 Raging Bull, but in this situation I would rather have 17 small shots over 5 big ones. This land I have locked in is the only private land I could get up in that area otherwise I would rather stray away from any type of confrontation with wildlife. Plus the property owner claims it is almost gauranteed to atleast nail a couple deer. Due to the lack of anyone else allowed on the property and the 1500 acres of protected land surrounding his land. With the time frame of my moms passing I did not get to utilize my all season license to its fullest extent so sitting here deerless still and this option to hunt I would really like to take advantage of it without getting injured but not wanting to break any laws either. Tomorrow I am going to try and get ahold of my DNR guy in this area again. But if you can find out as well I would greatly appreciate it thanks.

I just got done calling the 1-888-646-6367 DNR, they have informed me that it is LEGAL for a person with a carry permit to carry during muzzleloader season! You CANNOT use it to take deer with but you may carry it for personal protection still!
Thanks for the advice and the help searching out this answer..
