I’m gonna give it a try in the morning before I have to go to work. Hope to have a little luck before all the fishermen show up.

Good luck sir! My question is why does Nebraska have an early Teal season and Minnesota doesn’t? It would seem to me Minnesota could use one more than Nebraska. A lot of years the Teal are out of here right after the season opens.

We only have an early teal season in the southern portion of the state. Here is a quote off the Nebraska Game and Parks website that explains why we only have a season in the southern portion of Nebraska. I’m not sure if Minnesota is a production area or not.Quote:
Why Not All of Nebraska? Nebraska is considered a production state by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). Under that constraint, the USFWS would only allow a teal season if Nebraska agreed to not open the season in the Sandhills Region, the main production area in Nebraska. Areas outside the Sandhills but adjacent to this region (e.g., northeastern portion of state) were not included because they were adjacent to the Sandhills and other production areas (i.e., South Dakota, Iowa, and Wyoming) and probably would not have been acceptable to the USFWS. Additionally, regulations were simplified by using this boundary designation.

September 9, 2006 at 2:37 am #20280dd- Boy I’m glad you asked that question. In my research on your question I was looking at all of the upcoming opening dates and relized that early canada goose starts tomorrow too. I better go throw some goose decoys in the truck before I go to bed. Thanks!!

September 10, 2006 at 10:37 pm #20343Pete- No wonder I was soaked from head to toe, we got 1.5 inches of rain while we were out there this morning. I need to look at some camo rain gear if we’re going to do that again.
