I just picked up a new bow and need to get it set up with all of the goodies. I was just curious as to what everyones preferences/experiences were for rests and sights?

JB, they make a boew that Big.

JB, For a rest I would go with The Trophy Taker Shakey Micro Adjust or a Trophy Ride Rest, I think Drop Zone, but they have a bout 6 models. I can’t remember what model I liked best. (I just upgraded from a Regular Trophy Taker to a Trophy Taker Shakey. It will be delivered today ).

For sights I really like the Trophy Ridge Line . I really like the Vertical In-line Sights. Makes your Field of view a lot cleaner and brighter in low light conidtions. THis sight is the one I lke best (I think) 5 Pin Guide Series.

Good Luck and it is only 2 months away, better get wacking.

I second Lip’s choice of Trophy Ridge…though I have and recommend the Dropzone rest. Have fun breaking in the new bow.

I picked up a Bow Tech Old Glory. I haven’t used the drop away rests before, do they take some getting used to?

NOPE. I shoot a Mathews Legacy and never shot a drop away before that. Couldn’t even tell the difference. Tony is right, when it comes down to bow hunting, you need to do what feels comfortable to you and there is no price tag on having equipment that you “TRUST and have FAITH” in, at “THAT MOMENT OF TRUTH” we all search for every time we set foot in the woods.

    Welcome to the addiction Bongers!
Nice bow by the way,it was in my final 3. Do yourself a favor and make a trip down to Schaeffer Archery off Cliff. They have a awesome drop away that they market along with a nice selection of sights. They are also a Bow Tec dealer.

Oh I’ve been part of the addiction for a long time now, I just upgraded bows and can’t keep up with all of the new stuff that’s out there. Where abouts is that place on Cliff, I’ve never even heard of it?

Any Opinion on arrows? I was thinking of going with Beman’s, but am open to suggestions.

On my bow I have the Trophy Taker rest like Rob had posted and I love it. My wife also has one on her’s. I also have a Whisker Biscut. I just didn’t like it when temps got cold. It would chatter when you would pull back the arrow and would get stiff. If you aren’t going to hunt in December or in cold snowy temps I’d go with the Biscut.

I also use the Carbon Express, Terminators. My wife does too…she picked them by herself…

I just got a hew Hoyt this spring and I put a trophy ridge micro matrix sight on it. Love the small pins. And a trophy taker shacky hunter drop away. I am shooting gold tip xt hunters. I don’t know if its the combination or what but I shoot awesome with setup. I won’t practice at 20 yards anymore because in the last two weaks I have robin hooded 6 arrows. And on one of them I acualy put the pin on the nock of the fist arrow just to see if I could do it. And I can.

Way too shoot Mike. Im buying a new mathews from Tom gursky and when i get it i have to look at the setup. I used to shoot With hoyt brass small tip pins for a bigger view of my target. These pins are used by target shooters and have a fine point. This bow has a drop away rest and im going to try that, my old bow had a two finger pointed pin rest that also worked good. This year i’ll be able to make it to the woods.
