Anyone ever use one of these or have heard about these? Any comments? I’m sick of not getting any footage of some big boys. Not talented enough to do both in stand (Film and Hunt). I’m not to the point where I can let a buck go cause, I get busted moving cause of the dumb camera The girlfriend still has a year of school left, so I will be camera man/woman less at least another year.

    HUNT CAM

    Thanks for any input.

No experience but that looks really cool. I’ve always wanted to videotape my waterfowl hunts in ND but I’ve never been able to opt for the camera instead of the gun!

    How are these units priced?

My knowledge is limited on this product, but just watching some outdoor shows that use it, it seems they only use it for up close filming. i.e. putting the cam on the riser of the bow and aiming it back at yourself. I think they only use them for cut outs because they are pretty limited, no zoom and I would guess the low light capabilities aren’t very good. If either of you are looking for a camera man, send me a PM.

I thought I read on it , that it had a low light switch but I hear what you are saying. With that objective lens size, I’m guessing the lowlight thing would not be that great. I’m just looking for a alternate until:

    1) I can get my Camera woman back
and 2) I can get one of those “real cameras” $2500.00 outdoor filming cameras, but that is about 2-3 years away yet Maybe I will have to push up the purchasing schedule.

Whitetails you know my answer to that. We need to stay in touch and see what kind of deer I will be looking at this Fall. I know of one that will be roa ming around yet that was around 180″ last year. The other brusier (22 pointer)fell to a gun hunter a week and a half after I had him @ 5 yards before shooting light . He netted 180 inches after busting off 5 scorable points losing him a total of about 15″ in a fight with a monster 10 pointer, that I’m not sure about. I also know the 150″ 5×5 that I had ecnoutnered 2 times at Hallloween is still roaming also. W will see what the cameras can pick up this Summer

Rob- I sold some of these while I worked at Scheels part time in college- When we got them in, I sold three of them the same day- The guys that bought them, were regulars at the store, they liked them, and never said anything negative about the cameras…

    Lip Ripper,

Those things are pretty sweet. Here is what I try to do when I want to film my hunt. At one time I borrowed a swivel camera mount that screwed into the tree like a tree step. I would mount my regular video camera above me so that it saw what I saw. When a deer or whatever approaches, I turn the camera one with a remote control from my pocket. If you are stealthy enough you could swivel the camera around to get a better view and all of the adjustments for zoom and stuff were on the remote. If you camera is similar to mine, this may work for you. If you buy one of those other cameras, you will definately have to let us all know how it works.

I love to video tape my own hunts, but sometimes it is a bit frustrating having to worry about the equipment as well.

I didn’t mean to come across as negative on the cam. If all the user wants is some video footage to show friends and family it may be the ticket. But if you are trying to get into filming hunts and editing video (for profit) you’ll want to bite the bullet and maybe team up with a buddy to cut costs and buy a nice prosumer camera.
Hey Lip, you better figure it out quick my fall is starting to fill up fast.

Whitetails, I hear you about the qaulity of the picture and zoom features, but I need to start somewehre until I can get what I want. I can still use this as a backshot camera and for fishing once, i buy the Super Mack Daddy (SMD)camera. Just need something to tide me over until my camera man is back and until I can afford the extra $2500-$3000 for a SMD camera. You know I value and wanted your opinion.

Yep, you just got those Button Bucks to chase don’t you G, sounds good about the pond. But I’m sure Whitetails and I will do all the talking cause you have nothing to talk about for this upcoming Fall

My honest opion Lip would be to save your money until you break the piggy bank on the good camera. You’ll need that extra money for audio, wireless mic, extra batteries, tripod and tree arm. Let me know when you are thinking about taking the plunge, I usually know someone getting a new camera and trying to sell their used one. Could save you some money.
