Anybody shoot a Benelli super Black Eage II?? Have you had any problems with it?? I have heard nothing but good things about them…….so my buddy buys a new one this year and has all kinds of problems. I don’t know how it does it but after he fires it, it kicks the shell out and puts a new shell in but it doesn’t reset the hammer, he shot it 13 times down duck hunting one morning and it messed up 5 time by not resetting the hammer. Anybody else have a problem like this?? I’ve been shooting a 5 year old SBE and had no problems at all. He sent it back to the factory after the season and has not heard back yet. Just wondering if anybody else has had this problem.

A bud had the same problem with his. It would fire, eject and cycle a fresh shell but his trigger would feel like the safety was on(locked up). It wasn’t. He had it to the gunsmith twice and it still did it but not as often. He traded it in. I remember it like it was yesterday…roosters busting out everywhere, everyone else pulling the trigger. Between BANGS you could here him… &#@^, *^&%!! Comical to us, he didn’t find it very funny!

January 27, 2006 at 4:32 am #14469My goose hunting partner shoots one…3-1/2 inch mags and it worked perfectly all season, including mornings where it was -15 degrees outside. He purposely did not clean it all season to see if it would keep functioning and it did…so he has had great luck. I bought one too a year ago but before I shot it just could not get myself to like the way the magazine cutoff etc worked so I went back to a Browning which I have had all my life. I have a Browning Gold Hunter and have had great luck with it so far although I “did” completely strip the grease out of it for cold weather and used Militec oil to treat the metal, then wiped it dry. The mechanism functioned flawlessly all season including the -15 weather.

January 27, 2006 at 4:50 am #14470I have one and have never had a problem. It’s a great gun. The only thing I didn’t like was the safety was awful “stiff” when it was new. That has since worked itself out.

I am looking to upgrade from the Browning Gold Hunter as I have had nothing but problems with mine. It works great until about mid season, and then starts to “gum” up. At this point, I need to completely tear it down, including removing stock and every component and give it a good clean. This is about a 2 hour operation by the time I clean up the kitchen tablw when I’m done. I hope you have better luck then I have, but mine is going down the road and I am getting a new SBE2. The only problem is that I have to trade a gun in, and I like to keep every gun I have.
Don’t mean to hijack the post, but is there anywhere that has a better price on the SBE2 or are they all the same? I have a gift card from Gander, and was looking at going there, but would rather give my money to a small gun shop who will give me some service and can work on my other guns. I have always went to Ahlmans (Near Morristown) in the past, but looking for something in the Rochester area.

January 28, 2006 at 5:23 am #14505I was amazed because our group of 8 guys all hunted with SBE and none of us have had any problems. He shot an 1100 until the gunsmith said it’s not worth fixing, so he decided to go with the SBEII and he had all kinds of problems. I felt so bad for him, he missed many birds because of the malfunction. I hope they take care of him the money you spend on them. I’ve shot one for the past ten years and would never change. They are the easiest gun around to clean. Whatsa
