Interesting article… I thought I was the only one doing this

I have found a lot of success in the past hunting in cities, but it is something that people rarely think to do. With more and more urban sprawl and subdivisions going up in every farm field within 30 miles of cities, wildlife / people contact can only increase. When I was in college I spent a lot of time hunting early geese in fields bordering cities and so on. A lot of the smaller towns don’t have regulations at all on this, but some you just need a permit from the police and/or a landowner signature. I always make it a point to set up and take purcausions to avoid shooting in the undisired directions. Best part of it is, I don’t see the hunting pressure and the birds are “dumber” (at least the first couple times), but I have gotten a few odd looks from passerby’s.

Im sure this is the answer to incity population of deer. I know almost anyone can shoot from a stand twards the ground and its safe. Shooting level with slugs is more risky but in some of places it can be done. Shooting down from a stand would work almost anywhere.

The only problem that I could see with bow hunting in populated areas would be if you end up shooting a deer and it expires for example, in someones yard. It could be a completly safe shot, perfectly placed, and yet the deer could still run and die in someones yard. Granted it would make for easier dragging j/k. After saying that, I would love to get to hunt on some inner city golf courses. Last fall I saw a 130-140 class 10 pointer on one. Man, I’d love to get a shot at that deer. Wish I would’ve had my camera too, but usually I don’t want to remember things that happen on the golf course (yeah it’s that bad).
