The way our high school trap team is burning up shotgun shells should keep them going for awhile!!! Good to see these kids out doing this.

I gotta get a tour of that place some day. How cool would it be to see the manufacturing process.

Mills Fleet Farm in Menomonie is starting to refill the shelves albeit at inflated prices but you can now find .22LR, .223, and 12ga slugs. They even have a handful of AR-15’s in the case. We seem to have turned the corner but prices need to come down. They aren’t moving the .223 at $19.89 for a box of 20.

Federal Cartridge is owned by ATK.

It does not appear that a labor shortage has Federal doing a lot of hiring. Like most manufacturing now days, I suspect that just having more people will not speed up production. Excess capacity = waste so manufacturing these days is set up to have just enough capacity to fill the average demand.

With a massive spike in demand, there simply isn’t enough capacity to come anywhere close to meeting demand. Real life is not like Star Trek, there’s no such thing as running at 125% capacity.

The problem now is there is so much pent up demand that it’s going to take a long time before people quit buying everything they see.

I have a friend that works there. They are in the process of bringing two more .223 lines into production. It’s a little more than bringing two machines in a plugging them in. They are building these two lines on site. So, hang in there, they are expanding their capabilities.

Do they actually offer tours? That would be really interesting.

I don’t know. I suppose possibly if you know the right people. My neighbor happens to work there.
