Anyone here know much about snow shoes? Thinking of getting a pair for winter yote hunting. I don’t even know where to start… What questions should one ask about a particular make/model??

I’ve had a few pairs over the years. I bought a pair of these for myself and the wife, 2 years ago when we had a lot of snow. We love ’em. The bindings make all the difference. These stay put and you don’t have readjust all the time. They make different sizes but these seemed about right. I’m 200 lbs and no problem staying on top of the snow. The price is sweet too, $110 on sale for $50…tough to beat.

I will have to look at what i got a few years ago. They are shorter in length so you can walk in more brush. when you get in powder ive got tail that i can add onto the back so i can float on top. I wouldnt get anything else imo.

    Kooty,

This question is almost like asking Vexilar/Marcum to an ice fisherman. It all depends on how much you want to spend and if you want to go traditional or high tech? I myself like the traditional way, so I bought an Ojibwe kit from CountryWays, http://snowshoe.com/ in Richfield and laced them up myself. It takes a little patience learning the knots to use, but it’s not that bad. I actually just built my brother and his wife both a set for Christmas this year. I have a set of military shoes and my Ojibwe’s if you would like to try them out. Let me know.

    Runner –
You’ll like ’em. With the snow we just got…might be needing them soon…well, maybe a little more first.
We got somewhere around 6-8 inches in Rochester. You musta got a little more than that even.
