Just curious as to the value of my Remington 870 express Magnum 20 ga. I’m thinking about selling it for a new 12ga.

For the standard full size model, currently it’s selling for just over $300 with laminate wood stock. At one time, Walmart was selling them for $289, not sure that price is still in effect.

Obviously, there are lots of variations, so if you have the set with the regular and deer barrel, etc, it’s a different thing.

Assuming NRA grade “good” or “very good” I’d say $150-200 would be my target price. You’re dealing with the most common pump action shotgun in the world, so buyers are never short of choices. If it’s in NRA excellent condition or better, you may do a little better yet.

I’d say get it on the market right now if you’re looking at selling. It’s never going to get any better than September/early October.

Good working condition with both barrels I would PAY 300…one barrel 200…just personal opinion. As long as there is no rust and it is functioning fine it’ll sell quick

    Troy,
When I’ve sold guns in the past, and I say in the past because I’ve quit taking losses on them, I figure I will get between 50% and 75% back on a weapon as common as an 870 pump.
An 870 is somewhere near $300 brand new, and lets say you shave off $50-100 for the fact that its used, and shave off another $50-100 if you pawn it..you are not looking at a very good return. I am good friends with the local pawn shop owner, and at the end of the day they have a business to run.
Consider keeping it, or find a friend who may have a wife or child that are interested in shooting since the 20 ga. is just a little lighter on the shoulders. I actually prefer 20 ga over 12 in most situations, except home defense. This may not be what you wanted to hear, but its just a different view of a situation that I’ve been in one too many times.
