I was given a Nikon Buckmaster rifle scope a few years ago. It does not appear to be as clear as I think it should be. I also own a Monarch Series from Nikon and even after 10+ year it is way clearer than the Buckmaster scope. I know the buckmaster scope is a price point below the Monarch series but I still do not think it should be this unclear. I called Nikon hopeing they they had a tradeup option but no luck. I guess i will send it into them and have then check it under warranty. I am just not sure a new one or a repaied one will be as clear as I wish it to be. Anyone else have a buckmaster series? What are your thoughts on the clearness of them. I feel the monarch is clearer than most any other scopes I have looked thru.

You get what you pay for with optics. Plain and simple.

FWIW, dad put a Leupold VX-III with CDS on his 7mm STW. That is freaking sweet. Just dial in the range and put the crosshairs where you want the bullet to go. For the price point ($580) I think that is porbably one of the best deals on the market.

    Couldn’t agree more!
I’m on a Distributor Pro Staff for Burris and work many events at Cabelas, Bass Pro,…. There is one huge thing I hate about Nikon, and that’s the inconstancy in (or on) their glass. When I’m working these events I sell people what they want or ask for. I don’t push people and quite frankly, don’t have enough time. But it is so frustrating when Mr or Mrs X walks up to the counter, say “I want to see a Nikon Prostaff 3x9x50… . Wow, looks great, I’ll take it.” I grab the box, pop it open and let them look at it before they buy…and then…”Why is this darker, or not as clear, or this looks blue…” Then I’m opening 4 boxes to find out all 4 have a different appearance through the optics. (Same goes for their binocs too) It takes a lot of time and the customer is asking me why. I don’t know the Nikon line and all the ins and outs with them. I just know I dread helping a customer out that has a preconceived perception that they are paying for a better product with Nikon. When actually they are paying for the biggest advertising campaign of any scope manufacture.
What I really wish we had at these events is a cross cut section of Burris, Nikon, Swarvoski, and Leopold. But then if I did, Burris and Swarovski wouldn’t need any prostaffers there
