Wool hunting clothes?

I was out a couple weeks ago on the S arm with similar results. There is a point just west of the handicapped pier where the “lake” side of the point drops into about 12 ft pretty quickly, while the point itself and the cove behind it are relatively shallow. Bass were in there sitting underneath giant balls of baitfish and every few minutes they would come 1-2ft out of the water while smashing bait on the surface.

I found a spook type walk the dog bait to be effective when they were up top, and a deep diving crankbait on the lake side of the point to be the ticket when they weren’t actively smashing minnows.

Tons of 12-16″ fish in MacBride right now. This summer has been nothing short of spectacular.

I’m in need of a new hunting suit for next year and I’m considering wool. I wear a blaze vest, so camo is ok. Does anyone have a wool suit, jacket and bibs that they recommend? Price isn’t an issue as long as it’s durable and warm. I looked at Brownings new full curl jacket and bibs but found the reviews to suck!

I just picked up a pair of Gamehide fleece pants in 2x so I can wear them over the top of my regular hunting plants. They are made of the Hyperhide. It’s wind and waterproof stuff. I’ve yet to wear them outside, but my in the garage testing has been awesome so far. I think they are going to be a great addition to the collection of camo.

From the current issue of Field and Stream, from the article on Old School Buckmasters, one guy recommends wearing wool because it’s nonreflective and has texture and depth that diffuses light.

His brand of choice is Beagle Wear http://www.beaglewear.com. Description is it’s high tech wool, treated with Teflon so water rolls off. It’s got a breatable inner membrane that’s wind – water proof, and a polyester liner that wicks moisture.

    FWIW

My wife just got me matching wool pants and jacket from Cabelas. I can’t wait to try them out.

Best I have right now. I’m really going to like them. Especially late season in SD.

As you can see, I actually got the fleece. Not wool. I keep saying the wrong thing. I’m gonna give it a test tomorrow in SD. Winds in the 20 mph range.

Isn’t that the fleece/wool hybrid? I’ve had my eye on that stuff. Warm?

Yes it is. I’ve only worn it once so far. I really like it I’m going to test again today in south dakota winds.

Wouldn’t you know it, The weatherman was 100 percent wrong. It was so nice yesterday I never had to put my jacket on.
