Ok right on the back of my old La Crosse icemans it says MADE IN USA. I get a new pair of La Crosse boots and they say made in China. I’m a UAW member and beleive in buying at least american made or canada. Kinda hard to do anymore.
There is a company that’s here in my home town that makes shoes and boots. They also make Military and Fire Fighter boots.I wear there steel toe work boots.Here is their site. http://www.weinbrennerusa.com/
I work at S.B. Foot Tanning Company in Red Wing. Minnesota. We are owned by Red Wing Shoe Company and supply them with our leather. Some of Red Wing Shoes are made in China, but mostly right in Red Wing. Right now both companies are just going full capacity. Both Japan and Europe are buying boots from us that is a line of boots called Lifestyles. People in Japan are paying anywhere from 450.00 to 600.00 dollars for a pair of boots. Europe isn’t paying that much but around 350.00 to 450.00 a pair.
Red Wing Shoe Japan and Red Wing Shoe Europe have sent over people to tour our plant and Red Wing Shoe to see what goes into Red Wing shoes and boots. I was told by our plant manager that both groups love the “Made in USA” theme. They find the quality much better here than from their own countries. 
In our last plant memo our plant manager said we will exceed the 19 million feet of leather thru our plant this year and doesn’t see any slow down in the future. In a time where unemployment is at a low… we have hired over 30 people in the last couple months.

Red Wing Shoe has 2 plants in Red Wing and many stores around the USA and other countries. I’m actually in the Japan Red Wing Shoe catalog doing my job and was interviewed and had a photo shoot for a documentary for over in Germany!

Glad you replied. Everytime I visit Red Wing I wonder how the company is doing.
