    Hey Guys,
I’m thinking about buying a knew treestand and some climbing sticks. I’ve been looking at the Hunter from Go Muddy or the Lone Wolf Alpha or Assault. I was wondering if
anybody has any feedback on both of these stands. I’m also wondering about the Go Muddy sticks and Lone Wolf Sticks.
The Lone Wolf sticks aren’t bad except for they only come in a 3 pack. Also I don’t like the fact that there steps are opposite of each other whare the Go Muddy has steps on both sides and I like the fact that they come in a 4 pack.

I don’t have any experience with the muddy sticks or stands but I have owned lonewolf hang on’s and sticks for about 5 years now. I have nothing but good to say about the lonewolf setup, quick, quiet, and you can walk into a spot and have confidence that your stand will hang comfortably on darn near any tree. The buckles are a potential for noise out of the box, but that can be eliminated by either coating them with rubber or something I’ve done is to cover the buckles with mole skin.

I bought a set of Go Muddys late in the season so I can’t give you a full report but so far I LOVE them! I thought I may run into issues with the buckle slipping but haven’t yet. I will be buying another set as soon as I get my tax returns back.

I too am happy with my lone wolf’s (hang ons) As far as climbing sticks I’ve never used them but have looked at them and always thought to myself that the flip up/down steps would be way more convenient carrying in and out versus having the fixed steps on either side to get caught on brush etc… Plus they would be a bit less visible on the trunk of a tree.

Oops, just looked at the Muddy sticks and it appears the steps fold up too. The one complaint I have about my lonewolfs is where the cable come from the platform up to the verticle member of the stand. When standing up I like to stay as close to the tree as possible to avoid being outlined but the cables come close together creating a very tight vee so I always end up with one foot in the middle of the stand and the other on the other side of the cable (straddling the cable) otherwise it digs into the side of your legs. Rvrat on here showed me one of his aluminum Gorrila stands, looks like alot of engineering went into it and it built for a horse, not sure of which model is though but I’ll be looking at them for my next stand purchase.

I have been hunting out of the Go Muddy stands for two years now. I have both the ladder stands and a few hang ons (Hunter). I also have a few Lone Wolfs the (Alpha). The stands (Muddy & Lone Wolf) are both great top of the line stands IMO. They are designed relatively the same. They both have adjustments that can be made to the seat and platform to allow easier stand hanging in various tree conditions. They both are extremely light weight (Muddy Hunter 12lbs, Lone Wolf Alpha 14 lbs). As far as comfort goes they both are very comfy. This past season I used both a Muddy Hunter and Lone Wolf Alpha as Camera stands so I was able to see a lot of different set ups and even the same set ups with both stands. IMHO they are neck in neck with maybe, maybe a very slight edge towards Lone Wolf. However, that very slight edge also comes with a $66 higher price tag that personally I don’t feel is worth it IMO. So, I believe I will be getting more Muddy stands come this Spring/Summer.

As far as the sticks, I have some limited use with the Go Muddy and none with the Lone Wolf sticks other then playing with them in the store. However, I did like how the Muddy sticks attached to the tree with their rope cam system. They are also extremely quiet compared to the other brands when putting them up and carrying them through the woods with all the ratchet straps & buckles clagning everywhere. The step on either side is something that doesn’t seem that big of a deal until you use it and then don’t have it. The weight between the Go Muddy and Lone Wolf steps are the same per stick (2.5 lbs). They are also evenly priced ($129). However as mentioned previously, you only get 3 steps with the Lone Wolfs and 4 with the Go Muddys! So it appears I would favor the Go Muddy sticks.

I love the extra height of the Muddy ladder stands (18.5′) and it is still as light as the other 15′ ladder stands (50 lbs). I often find myself standing on the seat of many ladder stands to give me that extra height and concealment I want, not true with the 18.5′ Go Muddy’s!! Also a great feature is the narrow ladder on the Go Muddy for more concealment against the tree from deer and other humans.

Probably the most important Muddy piece of equipment I own is their safety harness. This is by far IMO the best on the market for its easy on/off design and also for its lightweight design. This harness comes in under 2 lbs. I think just one of those buckles on the HSS vest is about that. This harness is very easy to put on or take off in the dark, its lightweight and very quiet.

IMO, the best part of buying from Muddy is their customer service and dealing with people like Larry Kendall. That IMO goes along way if I buy another product from a company now days!

Just an update here, Muddy did some twekaing to their line up and comparably they are now are just about the same price as Lone Wolf.
