Any one have one or have any input on them. They have the 5.0 Outfitter camera on sale for $100 bucks. $50 bucks off. Or the same one with built in viewer for $150 bucks. Also $50 bucks off. Any info on these will be appriecated.
From past replies it seems most are happy with their Moultries. I don’t own one though.
I have one and love it, never gives me trouble. It takes 6D battiers and will last a month and a half taking 300 pics a week. My only compant is on trails the trigger speed is slow, but love it for the money. You can see my pics from it in the trail cam section.
I seen them on sale I have 2 D40’s, I love em. Easy to set-up and takes good pics. Heres a couple.
+ they take video and if its dark it will take a still flash photo. Battery life is great and the photos are farly good for the money.
– they are heavy, place to hook strap may break, random junk pics and ocasional blured photo here is a couple good and bad.
I just bought 2 of them just because they were a good deal and I have been very happy. Not the fastest trigger speed but great for the money and the trigger is still as good as most but not all. Here are a few pics IR and Color from my IR4.0 bought for $165.
I haven’t had any experience in the 5.0 outfitter series
But I do have (4) of the I40s that are working well
I wish the trigger speed was a hair faster, but you just have to set the cameras up so there’s more travel time in the picture zone versus a quick hop across a trail. The other thing to note is the location in relation to the skyline a bright west skyline will hold the camera in its day mode later into the early eve versus the camera tripping the night flash thus giving you pictures that may seem almost too dark to see the animal that’s in line with some back ground – brush, I have had my best luck having them aiming either north or south, but you can still play with the east and west just watch the canopy and skylines it’s always worth trying a hot spot you just may have to tweak a cam once in a while to increase the overall performance.
During June, July I leave them out for the whole month before swapping the cards
Aug, Sept, Oct I will swap every 2 weeks
Late Oct. & Nov. they usually find new locations in relation to Rut activity and Rub lines
I have seen folks get so worked up over a monster buck that they end up pushing it out of the area or turning it nocturnal do to checking the cameras every few days or weekly –
Tread lightly and smart
Good Luck this Fall!
I have a D40 and can’t seem to capture photo’s at night? I have it on Auto set up and I have the flash to the on position. What am I doing wrong? I also have the picture intervals set to 1 minute. Also, I checked the card the other day and it had over 300 photo’s…99% were of the field, no deer! And the batteries seem to last maybe a week…..what am I doing wrong?

Mine has , ( in settings ) flash / flash off / auto flash It has to be set on flash / auto flash or the night pics are just black
I have an I40 and a I60.
Pros:
Good battery life
Picture quality is pretty good
Range is very good (up to 60 feet)
Cons:
I sometimes get white out pictures (even though I have the latest softward installed)
The size of the camera is bulky and very heavy to cart around.
Trigger speed is kind of slow (2.5 seconds) thus resulting in missed opportunities

I’ll triple check it again Gman but I beieve it is already set for flash/auto flash. It worked great the first time I put it out and now I struggle to get anything.
I did make the mistake late last year of making a folder on the memory card itself of my favorite pics then deleting all the uninteresting pics leaving only the folder and a card ready for more, The problem then was the cameras would really have a delay before firing –something to do with having to get past all of the stored memory I was told. Well honestly once I got rid of the folders on the memory cards everything was back to a normal trigger speed –
Just thought I would pass this along
I always take a fresh, empty memory card out with me. I guess I’ll have to run through the basics again and see what’s going on. Maybe I got a bad one!
