Looking for new shotgun

I’m looking for a new shotgun.

Semi auto, It will be a pheasant hunting gun. I have remington shotguns and am looking for something lighter. I have kind of narrowed it down to Benelli, but am having a hard time choosing between the models they offer. I like the ultralight but 2+1 is not enough shells, I need at least 1 more in the magazine for crazy SD hunts.

    Any recommendations?

Go with a Beretta Extrema II! It’s lightweight and holds plenty of shells. Haven’t had any problems with it what so ever…even shooting 3 1/2″ loads for turkey hunting! I plan on using it this Fall for pheasants and waterfowl. I couldn’t be happier with it

I too have been a fan of Beretta! I have the Beretta Pintail that is extremely light and awesome for carrying all day int he field.

Browning just came out with a new shotgun. Beliieve is called the maxxus. Not for sure on that but it was really light but not as light as a benelli. I got the SBE II. Great gun i think, but a little spendy. But hey ya get what ya pay for right?

I’ve heard that some guys with the Stoeger 2000 have had issues with misfires. Some contributed it to break in period, has anyone had this issue?

I had two or three misfires in the first couple boxes of shells I put through my 2000 (many suggested it was a bad spring). But I’ve never had once since, going on about 3 years now. I shoot trap and skeet every week, plus lots of pheasants and grouse in the fall, and the gun shoots great. With regular cleaning it’s a hell of a gun for $300 IMO.

Get a Benelli M2 and add a magazine extension if you need it. Brings it up to 8 rounds!

I had originally had my mind set on the M2, then got confused with all the other options. not sure I need 8 rounds, my father would disagree with me on that one. Someone needs to haul spare ammo around for me!
    Thanks for the suggestion.

If you Really like the UL Then I guess I would suggest the Montefeltro. IT’s basically the same gun minus the carbon fiber, adding an additional 1 lbs. for about a $300 difference. Plus it’s magazine is 4+1. Just my .02

See if you can find a Browning Fusion Gold. Holds 4-1 and is very light.
I like it so much I own 2 and they see about 1000 rounds a year between pheasant hunting and trap season.

I like the montefeltro, really like the silver finish model, but not a gun for thrashing through catails. I guess it will come down to what I can get a decent price on and what feels good at the time.

I’m sure any gun in that price range will be a good one, at least I hope so!
