Hummingbird Helix7 DI/GPS Question

Been running two Lowrance units on the Tyee for years, standalone Sonar and standalone GPS. Sonar took a dump on my last Rainy trip and looking at this combo unit to replace it.
My question is, can you run the switchfire sonar and the GPS in the split screen mode? The H site says you can run GPS/DI and DI and sonar side by side, but doesnt mention sonar/gps in split mode.
I’m a little tweaked that I’d have to buy 2 separate lakemaster cards to get Lake Superior and the MN inland lakes, as well as Rainy lake (which I camp/fish on every summer).
    Any input is appreciated.

In for info on this. I’m looking into a helix 7 ice set up, and for open water.

Don’t forget if you buy the Helix 7 you will need to buy Lakemaster micro chips as well.
Splitting between 2d and GPS isn’t a problem in demo mode on the showroom.

Not a problem on the Helix 5 so I would expect one could on the 7.

Thanks Cal, that’s what I was looking for.
Yes, since all I have is a standard size navionics chip right now,I would be looking into having to buy two lakemAster mini sd cards. My current GPS is still working fine, but I’d want to copy waypoints while out on the water on the Bird, cause I’m sure the lowrance GPS will die soon too.
Will be making a stop at Marine General this week to play with it and see what kind of deal they have. Cabelas has a $50 rebate on them thru the end of the year.

Ok, a follow up on the mapping.
Is anyone running the Navionics plus US/Canada card in their Bird and how do you like it? Any comparisons to the Lakemaster cards?

Lakemaster has better detail than Navionics on the lakes I fish. That includes mainly Minnetonka, Waconia, Kab, Rainy & Namakan. The High-def 1-foot and 3-foot contours on Lakemaster are much more realistic. Some of the contours on Navionics are obviously interpolated from 10-foot contours. Open the Navionics web app and zoom in on Lac Seul and it’s easy to see that. http://webapp.navionics.com/#boating@12&key=elv~Gblx_Q
That being said, for Canada, Navionics is the only game in town that I know of except for LOTW & Rainy.

Incidentally, Navionics claims “We update our charts every day with more than 2,000 edits”. I haven’t seen any evidence of that on the lakes I fish. Who knows what counts as an “edit” and if that’s a statistic for worldwide edits or not.

Thanks Ron. That site is very helpful. Do you know of anything that Lakemaster has that is similar? Tried to find something on the Bird site to compare to what I’m seeing on the Navionics site. May have to just ask to look at one when I stop at Marine General.
My main non-local waters are Superior, Chequamegon Bay, Namakan, and Rainy. I do like the fact that Lower Manitou in Ontario is mapped, I get up there once in awhile to ice fish lakers. Having all of these on one chip is very enticing, versus having to buy 3 lakemaster chips to cover all of them.
