Hummingbird Helix 5 Si — What is this?

Guys and Gals,

What would you say this is on my sonar? On my lake you will see this pop up from time to time is it weeds like a weed stalk. In this picture I think I am in 14 feet of water and it goes all the way up to surface.

On a side note what view do you normally use when fishing? I am not really good at knowing what I am seeing this is the view I normally look in. Any tips on where to find tutorials on sonar would be helpful along with sharing from experience how you utilize your sonar the best.

Could be a weed or a dying clumps of weed, could be a column of oxygen. Did you happen to kick on the SI to see what it would be?

No I did not but that makes sense. I was thinking that maybe it was something from my trolling motor that just happened to show up on the screen.

When I’m unsure in 2d then I switch to DI. Often it answers the question. No idea for what you have there.

For tutorials, I’ve found some good stuff on youtube. Specifically Jason Halfen(The Technological Angler) and Vahrenberg’s channel.

Doctor Sonar or The Technological Angler (Jason Halfen) have tutorial videos. They also answer questions if you have Facebook or I am sure you could send them an email. Doc Sonar has been a ton of help to me with transducer placements. Very quick responses, super nice staff.

yeah look at it in DI. it could be a bunch of stuff.
