Does anyone use this for navigation on ice? Just wondering if I can get my hands on the cords necessary to power this unit up and use the mapping and depth contour feature for ice fishing? I emailed Hummingbird but have not received a response.

I’ve used a 959di unit as a gps and currently use a helix7di for mapping. The earlier series has a better gps, so I wouldn’t hesitate to get a power cord to use your 859. You should be able to get away using the PC11 power cable, you don’t necessarily need the entire cable collector to make it work.

I use my 899 in the winter. I’ve got it mounted on a genz box with the ice ducer as well. Hit power button to turn sonar on and off, and adjust the brightness. Turning the brightness down helps with battery life. I’ve been getting 7-10 hours out of mine. Also have an fl8 to use when needed. Works awesome to have those maps out on the lake.
