I have a Humminbird 1198 on the dash and a 858 on the bow. The two graphs are connected via an ethernet cable. There’s a lakemaster chip in the 1198 at the dash and no chip in the bow unit. Is it possible to view the lakemaster chip lake map on the unit on the bow? I can’t get the detailed lake map to show up on the 858 but I do successfully share the gps speed from the 1198 to the 858 so the Ethernet cable is working. I’ve toggled thru all the settings on both units and can’t figure it out.

“Is it possible to view the lake master chip lake map on the unit on the bow?”, you ask.

Your units are working as designed. This “core” series and the “Helix” series can not share the mapping card for contour’s. Saved way points will show up,

I think the Onix and Solix are the only HB units that can share mapping.

This is correct, but that’s only because Humminbird doesn’t allow the Helix/Legacy series to share. Simple 1 instead of a 0 in the code would allow it…Humminbird can charge a premium because of that simple coding change..

Interesting. Thanks for the replies guys. I figured it wasn’t possible since I toggled thru every darn setting on both units but figured it was worth a shot at asking.

The lakemap should still work on the bow unit (858) if the chip is inserted in the slot, correct? For some reason, when I take the lakemaster chip out of the 1198 and put it into the 858, I can’t get the contours to show up on the 858 that way either. Again, I’ve toggled thru every setting in the menu and can’t get it figured out. Pop the chip back into the 1198 and it works fine. The LOTW chip thats currently in the 858 still works tho when it is moved into the #1 slot… Stumped!

I’ve had troubles with maps loading if I have 2 cards in my 899. Try just that single card (non-LOTW) in your 858 and see if it loads.

as stated have just one in at a time, I tries having both mn and wi in mine and had same problem, only seems to like one at a time.

I ended up just keeping my eye out for a good sale and then picked up more chips for the second unit.
