    Goodbye Onix, hello SOLIX!

    http://www.humminbird.com/Freshwater/Lifestyle/SOLIX_FW/

The size of these screens nowadays is getting ridiculous imo….sucks that it draws 4.56 amps to run it (yikes you’ll need a separate battery for it) and that it uses Onix’s stupid threaded cable connectors vs the Helix series quick connect/disconnect plug.

$3,500 for the 15″, $2,800 for the 12″ screen…comes with cross touch, MEGA, bluetooth, etc

Holy crap that’s big. My first tv wasn’t 15″ crazy There’s no way that fits in my boat.

I wonder if this is better for offshore fisherman running those big boats. That or just build it bigger and they will come??

Onix gets a nice software upgrade hours before the Solix introduction. Mega imaging on the Solix should be awesome, but I’m sticking with my Onix..

Agreed!! That was one of the main deciding factors for me between the Helix and Onix. Got the Helix and the only thing I may miss is the touch screen.

Unless they got it down to one plug I would never own a unit with those plugs. They’ve been doing the quick release/combined plugs for at least 10 years, why would they ever go away from that?!

I would need to know for a fact somebody could teach me to run the damn thing. Lot of coin for something I wouldn’t know 100% to run all features.

Hopefully the menus are simpler than the Onix. The new Onix software update touts express menu shortcuts so hopefully that is going to make it easier to find simple things . The Solix has the same menu express keys.

The most commonly used menu items are now quicker to get to.

Is Humminbird competing with Lowrance or is Lowrance playing catch-up? ???

Humminbird’s new MEGA transducer has separate Down Imaging elements, so it’s on par with Lowrance (if not better)

Lowrance isn’t even in the same category anymore. They are not innovative at all. I would put Garmin in second now behind Humminbird and then Lowrance.

Where are you seeing this? I just logged in to “myhumminbird” to read the release notes. All I see is 2.700 from a year ago and 2.72 patch from 6/2/2016.
