Hi, I have a 620 on order. Hopefully will receive in a couple of weeks and will be installing the electronics. My previous 620 had a thru hull transducer which I really liked but I am reluctant to drill a 1″ hole in the new boat. Can folks share a few pictures of their SI transducer installations at the transoms? Is the SI transducer installed directly to the transom or to the step?

Has anyone used Stern Savor so no holes need to be drilled?

BBC boards has a special section with transducers mounted. I think I’ll find an answer there bud

Thanks for your suggestion. I have already looked through all the pages on BBC. It is a great resource. Surprisingly, there are no images related to any new installs. Installs go back a dozen years.

Surprisingly not much for recent you-tube videos.

I have mine mounted on the bottom of the step. I mounted a board on the underside and attached the SI ducer on that board.

May I ask way you didn’t have a thru hull factory mounted?

I assume you are asking the OP. If you are asking me. I didn’t know a SI thru hull was available. The other reason had I known I wouldn’t want to pay $450 to $700 for a through hull transducer.

Ranger will only install Lowrance on 620FS Cup boats and I run HB. So I needed to order the boat without electronics and as I was expecting to have 6 weeks between delivery and opener thought I would enjoy installing the electronics myself. I have before. But with a brand new boat, I am a little hesitant to drill a 1″ hole for the thru hull. I am still waiting on the boat however.

mojo – thanks for the pictures. One can return the transom transducer to HB in exchange for the thru hull and the cost for the swap with shipping included is under $100.
