Trying to figure out if I have to re-wire a power cable. I am replacing a dead 1159 HD CI DI with a new Helix 12 G2N. The cables appear identical however when looking at their website I saw a caution that “Humminbird uses a nearly universal power cable- except for some Helix 10, 12, and Solix models. I couldn’t get any actual specifications of what type of cable came with my unit except that the prongs and connectors etc. and every other part of the cable look identical. Is it safe to assume I have the same power cable?

Can you post a link or a screenshot of where you saw that note? Your 1159 and Helix 12 should both use the same PC-11 power cable w/choke.

Yeah – I saw it on the Humminbird website.
    https://humminbird.johnsonoutdoors.com/accessories/cables/pc-10-power-cable

At the bottom it says “6 foot power cable, waterproof. Used with all Humminbird products produced since 1989, except select HELIX 9 Series, HELIX 10 Series, HELIX 12 Series, 800 Series, 900 Series, 1100 Series, 797 and 798, ONIX Series and ION Series”

I thought it looked to be identical to the PC-10 cable and I shouldn’t have an issue.

So the only difference between the PC10 and PC11 is the PC11 has a choke. (The black knob inline near the plug.)

Get the PC11, it will help reduce interference.

So your 1159 came with the PC-10 non-choke power cable?

Oh! So you are both right. It turns out I have 2 PC-11 cables and not a PC-10 at all. That clears up my confusion and verifies that I should be in good shape. Thank you for the help! I didn’t look closely enough at the picture. Just wish the cables had a distinct label. I couldn’t pull them up searching the two numbers I had on the tag.
