I would like to move my Helix 9 from the bow to the counsel. I want to use it for mapping only, so will only need a power cable. Can I just wire it to a 12v adapter plug and plug in to my counsel or do I need an inline fuse?
Installation manual mentions an inline fuse
Craig – I’d suspect a factory installed 12volt plug might be already fused at a panel? A lot of cigarette adapter type plugs also have a fuse inside them already, so an additional inline element shouldnt be necessary.
Good point fishwater, didn’t think of that!
These things are extremely sensitive to clean power, and a power disruption is hard on them, should someone accidentally pull the adaptor. Its probably easier to just wire it in under the dash, than to mess with tying it into an adaptor.
