Humminbird PC

Guys, I absolutely love this software program and think it may be an overlooked tool. This extremely flexible program makes waypoint management a total breeze!

And it’s super cool that you can:
– use Google Earth to create waypoints or tracks and export created waypoints and tracks to a .KML file
– use GPS Visualizer (on the web) to convert .KML files into a .GPX file (or .USR for those who also use the Lowrance H2O)
– Import .GPX waypoint file to Humminbird PC, organize, name, change icons, move to other files if needed, etc…
– Export .GPX waypoint file from Humminbird PC to map chip card
– Import .GPX waypoint file into Helix

I’ve done this process a lot to mark structure and landings and I’ve even plotted tracks for thru-the-woods access to lakes.

Who else loves the Humminbird PC program?

I use humminbird pc + google earth + gps visualizer + data from my Helix 5 and the humminbird fishsmart app.

I had heard of fish smart before, but was reminded of it again on a different thread. so now I guess I’ll have to put some .gpx files on my phone. haha

Looks like a great tool to use. Only problem it’s not runnable on a Mac. There are a lot of people that use Mac and not windows. Should be supported on both platforms.

I have a Mac and what you can do is split your hard drive up to run windows also. The only thing i am using windows for is my Humminbird Autochart data

FINALLY!

Last year I hounded Humminbird because they implemented new ICE icons in the Helix G2 units but those icons were not compatible with Humminbird PC – even though they also update Humminbird PC to work with the new Helix G2 units!

Well, it has finally arrived. Humminbird PC software update is now available which to fix the issue and work with the ICE waypoints.

They still haven’t fixed the issue of snampshot waypoints recording the incorrect timestamp in the image file, but they say that’s still on the list.
