Humminbird Network Advice (what would you do?)

    Good Mornin’ all,
Looking for some advice from those with some humminbird knowledge/opinions on how to best setup my boat with networking graphs.
I just picked up a Helix 10 SI G2N from a buddy (to which I am extremely excited to get setup).
Which 2 units (console/bow) would you network for best possible network setup??
    Graphs I have:
    Helix 10 SI G2N
    Helix 7 SI G2N
Helix 9 GPS Sonar (Gen 1)
    Humminbird 898C (SI)
I had been running a Helix 9 GPS/Sonar (GEN 1) on my console for the past couple of years, and had been looking for an SI setup to switch out for my console, and then network my Helix 9 on the bow.
In the winter I bought a used Humminbird 898 SI (which I was going to use as my main because of the SI), and then found a deal on another Helix unit in the Spring and picked up a Helix 7 SI G2N. I have been running the Helix 7 G2N SI as my main console unit this summer. However, I am used to (and liked) the much larger screen of the Helix 9 on the console.
I am now going to throw the Helix 10 G2N SI on my console, however am at odds with what to network as my bow unit….
    Wondering what y’all would do?
I would like to have the helix 9 – for the size – as my bow unit, however it is slightly older and I dont think I would get as much shared through my network as I would the Helix 7 SI G2N?
I am thinking of selling one of the units….and possibly keeping one of either the 898, Helix 7 or Helix 9 for ice use…. what would y’all do?
Thanks in advance for any advice/insight!!!

So my current setup is at the the Console is a Helix G3 12 Mega SI/DI and 1198 SI. At the bow is a Helix G3 15 Mega DI and Helix G2 10 DI. I also have the Mega 360 at the bow.

This is new boat to me but first impressions is it is nice to have multiple units in both the bow and console. This way you could have the map as 1 and run DI and 2D together or whatever your preference is.

If it were me I would setup Helix 10 SI at the console with the Helix 7. I would put the Helix 9 with the 898 in the bow.

As far as networking them together, you should be able to get the humminbird hub and all of the units you have will network together just fine.

Thanks very much for the input Plomp!
I had considered getting the ethernet hub and just networking everything together. At first I thought this may have been overkill with too many screens. However, I guess it makes more sense to have one screen dedicated to the mapping? If networked, none of the mapping detail is shared, correct? Would need multiple nav cards?
Would love to get the Mega 360. That would mean another upgrade. haha
My Helix 9 (Gen 1) is just a sonar/GPS unit, Helix 7 G2N is an SI… from your knowledge.. am I able to share the same detail (ie. SI/DI) to the Helix 9 (not an SI unit) as I would the Helix 7 (from my Helix 10 mega SI/DI)?
Apologies if these are newb questions!! But I am kinda of a newb to this networking piece. haha
    Thanks very much again!

I am by no means an expert and just got the new boat a few weeks ago and have only had a chance to get out in 2 times. My last boat had a 997 and an 898 and those units were not able to be networked together.

It is my understanding that to get SI to show the unit needs to be capable of SI. With that said I have heard that if networked together that the DI units can share the SI. I will have to check with some of my units and can report back after the weekend.

The mapping chips to not share unit to unit. You would need to have multiple chips for this. I have a chip in the bow and a chip at the console and for the units without use either the 2D, DI, SI or 360.

When doing my own research I found this:
What information shares when I network my Humminbird units together?
When networked together via Ethernet, HELIX and HELIX models will share:
    Waypoints
    Transducer information (sonar and temperature)*
    GPS Signal (not mapping)
    i-Pilot Link information and control
    Bluetooth Talon Control
    360 Imaging
    MEGA 360 Imaging
    Humminbird CHIRP RADAR
    NMEA 2000 network information

Okay great. Thanks very much for your help, I super appreciate you taking the time to respond!!
A new boat with new toys, sounds awesome. Good luck out there this weekend!
I think I am going to do as you say, go with the 2 (console) and 2 (bow) approach… so I’ve got some shopping to do. Hopefully in time for a weekend install.
    Thanks again!

I am not sure on which units to use but if you need network Ethernet port I have a gen 1 for sale. It will work great for any and all of these units.

It is the Humminbird As Eth 5PS. Has worked flawless but I am upgrading to some new G4’s and need to upgrade to the newest Ethernet. I just took it off my boat last night, will come with a new power cord too.

Let me know, it would work great for you at a substantial savings over the current version.

They have to be like units for the sonar to network together. You can link a helix SI with another helix non SI unit and the non SI unit will show the SI. If the SI unit is a mega I am told it won’t show as clear on the other unit, but I ran this way and it looked fine to me. That being said, a helix to solix, or a helix to a 898 or similar only will share waypoints.
