Humminbird G2N Networking Depths – how to show both units

My partner has Humminbird Helix G2N units on his boat. They are networked together. What were trying to figure out is how to create a screen where he can sit at the console, and while trolling be able to use the GPS at the console, have a second column on the screen showing the rear Transducer, and a third column on the screen showing the depth from the front unit with the transducer his trolling motor, which is networked.

How do we do that on Humminbird? Super easy on my Lowrance units. Can’t figure it out on his Humminbird units.

Thought I’d boost this again. We’ve got enough electronics junkies on here; there must be someone that knows how to display multiple transducers on a Humminbird networked screen.

Are you using a hub? I think you would only be able to do this if you’re using two different sonar types. You should be able to have it configured, Chart, 2d sonar from front, and then DI or SI from the transom. I have never tried to do this, but it should work. I use the transom mounted transducer for my bow mount all the time, but not the other way around.

    Thanks for the response, Pat.

I believe he’s got a hub, not 100%. I do know they’re networked, as they share newly created waypoints. So if that requires a hub, he’s got it.

To be sure I’m clear, we want to use the sonar signal from the front Humminbird unit (transducer on trolling motor) and view it on the screen of the Humminbird unit at the console. Both are G2N Helix 10 units.

We want to create a screen that’s got three columns:

    Left Column: GPS
    Middle Column: Console unit’s sonar
Right Column: Trolling Motor unit’s sonar

Pat, you’re a trolling guys up on LOTW, if I remember right. You’d like this as you’re trolling shorelines. You get some warning from that front transducer before you run up on those massive boulders up there.

And for power corking, this is also a great way to be ready for the drop as fish come under the back of the boat. You’ve already seen those fish on the front unit’s column. It’s really a slick set up.

Messing around with the display unit here at work, networked new rigged boats, and talking to a few HB guru’s. Cannot seem to get the setup you like, to read 2 separate ducers on same screen at same time. I know you can on Lowrance. I have a email out to product specialist at Humminbird to also clarify. Will let you know what I hear.

You cannot run one screen and show 2 ducers readings on the same page of a HB.
Best alternative is to just leave the bow 10 on full 2d mode and glance at that screen from any where in the boat when running the trolling motor. If you have a console boat the bow 10 will be very close and should be able to see fish or avoid Canadian rocks. I personally like that setup when fishing weed lines or mud flats. That way you know when the bow has started to hit the weeds or fall off the deep edge of the mud for example, it allows you to correct before your lines get buried in weeds or fall off the deep edge. If you are always using the transom ducer often times its too late for you to correct if going forward.

That is exactly what I do straight line trolling. Sit in the back of the boat watching the bow mount Helix for depth/bottom contour in 2D sonar and refer to console Helix with GPS and Down Imaging. It the “laziest” looking trolling method but it works for me! waytogo

You might want to try adding a Humminbird 360 to the mix/network. It will display all around the boat. It will smear the image a little when trolling but depending on the speed it is still a reasonable image.

    Works for me…Fish On…
