Just an FYI if you are looking at purchasing a Humminbird flasher, I purchased a Humminbird Ice 55 flasher and found it didn’t work right out of the box on simulator mode before I could return it and get my rebate I was hurt at work and was down for quite some time. When I finally was able to think without being influenced by medication I contacted Humminbird about returning the flasher for a replacement one and my rebate at which time I was told by Humminbird the time had passed for the rebate and I would need to on my own dime send the flasher away to be repaired first before they would consider replacing it even though it was only less than a year into a two year warranty. I called Cabelas where I purchased it explained my situation made arrangements to get there as I was unable to drive and the gladly took my old flasher and gave me a replacement. I let someone borrow my flasher recently as I’m not quite ready for hard water fishing yet and during the trip they lost the rubber stopper for the transducer cable/float, I checked around for this piece and then called Humminbird and to replace a 25 cent rubber stopper you need to buy the complete repair kit which includes every add on piece to the flasher/ base for a price of $28.95 you can’t just buy the parts you need. Now what gets me is I was actually looking at the Marcum flashers and even though my gut instinct told me to go with the Marcum I was talked into buying the Humminbird, I’m not saying the flashers performance is bad just the service is terrible as is the flasher design. Now I see why IDO team use Marcum!!

Bummer about the flasher…but IMO, it doesn’t sound like poor customer service, just that they didn’t go ABOVE AND BEYOND helping you out for something either you neglected or broke.
That said, the reason you hear good things about Vexilar and Marcum is that they are local and typically, not always, if you go there in person vs over a phone, they are more inclined to help you out…at least that has been my experience with Vex.
oh…and if you need a .25 cent stopper and not the whole kit, just go find one and buy it!
January 31, 2019 at 11:05 am #1831447So you’re complaining that you tried to apply for a rebate after the clearly marked date expired and they denied it? Then complaining that you didn’t like that you had to pay to ship the item to be fixed for FREE?…Vexilar AND Marcum require you to pay for shipping an item in for warranty service.
Just trying to get the facts here…

Yeah I’m not quite sure what to make of it…..
Apparently he doesn’t have the secret Humminbird hotline number (888-211-6115 ext. 4)….the second you call they dispatch a team of trained professionals in a Humminbird Van directly to your doorstep.
Upon arrival they dissect the unit in question and have you up and running in minutes. The van also has a tray that is stacked full of transducer float stops. You don’t even have to ask for one….. they’re free for the taking like mints in the bowl at Perkins.
(Sorry…..cabin fever ….)
Mat PeirceInactiveSE IowaPosts: 197January 31, 2019 at 11:36 am #1831457you don’t need that stopper or the float….just saying
I wouldn’t buy a Humminbird flasher based on the fact that they not longer produce flashers. Personal option here but, I wouldn’t buy any flasher because graphs work much better

February 3, 2019 at 8:54 pm #1832289Tough crowd
I have a 3 Marcums I have to pay every time I have a issue.
February 4, 2019 at 1:11 pm #1832445Is there any such thing as a “flasher fix-it guy”? I also have a H55 for a backup/kids unit. It fell out of the truck and won’t work. I was actually just digging into sending it in to get fixed. It’s no longer under warranty, bought 5 years ago. Does anyone know a guy?

I’ve been there once, and I was super please with them. I had lost a spring from a trolling motor foot pedal. They replaced it and didn’t charge me a thing. Good luck!
