Humminbird Ethernet Hub Issues

    Hi everyone

This year I have been running a blue tooth model terrova with ipilot link, Onix 8, and 859ci HD DI through the ethernet hub on my 02 lund angler. The hub is mounted in the bow of the boat in the front compartment just under the trolling motor. The first one I had was very spotty on connection and I would lose the ipilot link feature a lot. I returned it for a different one. This one has been better but as of late it also does not connect all the time.

I am only able to share waypoints between the units but having the follow the counter option from either screen is what I most use it for. This weekend on the water the connection quit working again so I ended up just taking the ethernet cable from the trolling motor and hooking it up to the 859 on the bow direct and no issues the rest of the day. A short term fix but would like to get the hub working properly so I can share the waypoints between units again.

I did check voltage to the hub and it was reading 12.0. One thing I might try is soldering the wire connections. Right now I just have them twisted up with a wire nut and electrical taped.

Just wondering if any of you have had issues with the ethernet hub from Hummingbird and what your fixes were. Thanks.

Where are you getting power for your ethernet box? My box had connectivity issues when my voltage dropped below 11.5v.

Power is coming from the master power switch on the dash. I will double check again when I get home tonight on voltage.

Test drive it and check voltage when you have everything running. Even better when you start losing connection. I’ve not had an issue since I replaced batteries. (I power my box from my tm batteries.)
