Humminbird 597 ci HD – Sonar Issues

I have had this unit for 8+yrs, and just recently the display is very intermittent when I have the sonar display up. It will show depth but the actual sonar display sometimes works and other times doesnt. The down imaging always works if I have that display up and the gps/map display always works, its just the sonar display that is intermittant. All pins and connections look good, anyone else seen this before? wondering if its just failing and time to upgrade?

Could be a transducer going bad. Or it could be the unit. You could try a different transducer to see if that is the issue before buying one. Of course that is assuming you know someone with a comparable transducer. Or you could use this opportunity to get something newer. I hear the solix 15 is nice…..

I dont know anyone with another transducer for this unit, guessing it is time to upgrade. I was looking at the Helix7 with side imaging, looks pretty good. I will keep the 597 in the boat too, for mapping with the Lakemaster chips I have already since the new units take the smaller sized chip
